Proposed Exhibition: Calder Kamin

Undiscarded is a proposed exhibition featuring the artist Calder Kamin. She mainly creates animal sculptures made from plastic bags and is an advocate for environmental issues and puts in effort to reduce waste. As a way to promote the exhibition, I created event materials such as an invite, save the date, ID badges, and an app that goes along with it.

When creating the event materials, I considered the environmental aspect of it and required that it would be printed on recycled paper and use vegetable inks. In addition, guests are to send their rsvp information through email and the invitations and save the date have the mailing information on the back to eliminate the need for envelopes. For the app, I included features such as a map, event schedule, educational videos about sustainability and the artist, and a virtual exhibition in the event that guests aren’t able to make it in person.

The color palette was inspired by the bright and colorful greens and pinks used in her sculptures. Graphic elements such as lines and circles were used to create movement and textures. Within the app, I used curved shapes to help create sections, making things more organized, easy to read, and flow well. I made the app interactive through buttons, pop ups, and gestures such as dragging and zooming in and out, seen on the map and the virtual exhibition.
